THE ART: The 9th annual Barrington Art Festival returns this Memorial Day weekend! Free and open to the public, the Barrington Art Festival will showcase the work of more than 130 juried artists from around the world in a variety of mediums including painting, ceramics, glass, furniture, photography, jewelry, mixed media, drawing, fiber and more! Live music featuring Cirrus Falcon, kid-friendly activities, artist demonstrations, and booth chats to learn more about the artists and their work, make the award-winning Barrington Art Festival one of the country’s most popular!
THE FOOD & MUSIC: In addition to the artwork, festival-goers will find great food from neighboring restaurants and enjoy live musical performances throughout the weekend.
FOR KIDS: Kids are welcome to participate in a variety of fun art activities throughout the weekend including art fest bingo, spin art, coloring, and the graffiti wall. New this year is the Barrington “Hands Together” Mural Project. Kids of all ages (including adults) are invited to add their handprint to a community mural showing that Barrington is a community of unique individuals, but stronger and more unified together. Each participant will get an 8” x 8” square and their choice of paint colors to create a hand print. The handprints will become part of a 4’ x 8’ mural that will be displayed in the community. Painting can be messy, so please dress accordingly. The Barrington “Hands Together” project will take place from noon – 1 pm both Saturday and Sunday.
FOR ALL: Attention photographers! Consider entering Amdur Productions’ new Landmarks Photo Contest. Amateur photographers of all ages who live and/or work in Barrington are invited to submit photos of Barrington that are meaningful to them. Photos can be an object, a place, or a distinguishing part of the landscape or structure of the village. The significance can be aesthetic, historical, cultural, or personal. Photos must be submitted at least one week prior to the start of the art fest via email to email@example.com.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive gift certificates to purchase art at ArtZipper.com.
