The Village of Lake Barrington approved the acquisition of approximately 8.1 acres located on Kelsey Road to further preserve and enhance the Village’s open space.

Purchasing this property fulfills many objectives of the Village’s Comprehensive Plan such as improving the connectivity between the existing open spaces, enhancing recreation activities for residents and protecting existing trees, woodlands and waterways. The purchase price of $445,000 includes the demolition of the existing buildings on the property.

“We are very excited to purchase this land in order to both further the preservation of our community’s open space and to offer more open space for residents and visitors to enjoy. Making this purchase not only ensures that the land will be cared for properly but will also give the Village plenty of time to seek grants and work with partners such as the Lake Barrington Countryside Park District and the Lake County Forest Preserve District on related site construction. I would like to thank Village Trustees for taking swift action in approving this purchase,” said Lake Barrington Village President Kevin Richardson.

The property will be purchased using existing funds in the Village’s Open Space and Impact Fee Funds. Between these two funds, the Village currently has a total of $444,500.
