The Village of Lake Barrington is pleased to announce Karen Daulton Lange as the new Village Administrator.
Her years of experience in management, budgeting, and transportation issues, coupled with her keen understanding of Village priorities, resulted in her selection. Karen will begin her new role on October 10.
Karen’s professional background includes extensive experience in civil engineering and public works. Her governmental experience includes engineering leadership roles in the Villages of Arlington Heights, Downers Grove and, most recently, Hanover Park, where she served as the Village Engineer and Assistant Director of Public Works. Her private sector experience includes work for a variety of municipal engineering firms and for Kennedy Land Development. Karen has a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, Chicago and a Master’s of Science in Information Systems from Roosevelt University.
Prior to being named as Village Administrator, Karen served on the Village’s Board of Trustees and chaired its Roads and Infrastructure Committee, which manages the Village's public works initiatives. Prior to being elected to the Village Board, Karen served as Chair of the Village’s Plan Commission.
The selection process included an extensive three-month search which was conducted by WRB, LLC, and Karen was one of the four finalists presented to the Village Board for the position. Throughout the search process, Karen recused herself from and was never present for, any Village Board discussions related to the search, the candidates, or related issues.
“We are excited to welcome Karen to her new role as Lake Barrington’s new Village Administrator. With her extensive municipal experience and her proven track record in project management, Karen is the perfect choice to further promote Lake Barrington as an oasis of gracious, countryside living where people and businesses can prosper and grow,” said Lake Barrington Village President, Kevin Richardson.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve the people of Lake Barrington as the Village’s new Administrator. As a long-time resident of the community, I am proud to call Lake Barrington home. I look forward to working with residents and Village officials in building upon the Village’s long standing vision of being a premier place to live and raise a family,” said Lake Barrington Village Administrator, Karen Daulton Lange.
Interim Village Administrator Bill Balling will remain in his position throughout the transition process.
