The Village of Lake Barrington joins countless individuals and organizations across Lake County and the Barrington area in mourning the passing of former Village Trustee and Village President Dorothy C. “Connie” Schofield.

“The entire Village of Lake Barrington has been deeply saddened by the news of Connie’s passing. Her family remains in our prayers during this time of great sorrow,” said Village President Kevin Richardson.

Richardson recalled the many contributions made by Schofield during her many years of service to the community.

“From her efforts to modernize the Pepper Road Business Park through the installation of a new water and sewer system to her key role in enacting our Village’s first Residential Sprinkler Ordinance to her highly effective leadership in crafting our groundbreaking intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Wauconda that assured the protection and ongoing monitoring of the water quality in Fiddle Creek, Connie always saw the big picture and understood the importance of doing things that would benefit the Village in the long-term,” Richardson said.

In addition, Richardson said, “Connie was a zealous advocate for thoughtful economic development in the Village and for efforts that enhance Lake Barrington’s commercial and retail tax base.” He added, “Connie also did an outstanding job in leading the design and construction efforts of the Village’s recreational and open space facilities at Freier Farm – something that will benefit residents for decades to come”.

“All who worked with Connie treasured her remarkable spirit, grace, and enthusiasm. Her love of her family and her dedication to her community leaves a lasting legacy that family, friends and colleagues will admire and benefit from for years to come,” Richardson said.

Visitation will be held from 4:00p to 8:00p on Monday, July 10, at Kristan Funeral Home, 219 West Maple Avenue, in Mundelein and from 9:00a to 10:00a on Tuesday, July 11, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church located at 22333 West Erhart Road in Mundelein.
