BASA was established in 1992 to promote and develop the sport of soccer in the Barrington area.

Soccer has grown in popularity dramatically in the past 40 years, recently surpassing baseball as the sport of choice for 12 to 17-year-old youth living in this country. According to US Youth Soccer, there were just over 100,000 players registered to play the game in 1974. The number of players playing today is well over well over 3 million!

The Barrington Area Soccer Association (BASA) has been the local expert at offering soccer development and training for 25 years. They encourage players to learn to enjoy the sport, benefit from the exercise and recreation, and promotes sociability and friendship among players resulting in better sportsmanship. They also help volunteer coaches to become more knowledgeable of the sport and better ambassadors of their program priorities:

  • Sportsmanship

  • Enjoyment

  • Development

"Our program is great for young players as it exposes them to a team/group environment at a young age and helps teach them the understanding of many valuable life lessons, such as teamwork, listening, winning and losing with grace, effort, but most importantly enjoyment," Emily Snyder Director of BASA Recreational Soccer programs shared.

The Barrington Area Soccer Association's TOTS program is where many of the 60010 youth get their start. This program is coached by the BASA/FCX professional staff and is a great way to get the youngest players to start learning to love the game!

"Our Tot soccer program is one of the best youth sports programs in Illinois," Emily said. "We have over 120 Pre-Kindergarten players participate each season."

BASA has programs starting soon for preschoolers during the weekdays, after-preschool and on Saturdays for 3 to 5-year-olds. They also offer an Adult & Me - Tiny Tots for 1 1/2 to 3-year-olds.

"We focus on making soccer fun for the youngest players and the more fun they have the more likely they will love the game and want to continue playing it!"

In addition to preschool, BASA offers Recreational Soccer Programs for Kindergarten through High School, travel teams, and camps.
