Young Barrington Handball Team Wins Silver at Canadian Youth Nationals

An Olympic Sport, Coach Craig Rot has been building the Handball organization in Barrington for only a few years, yet his teams have already proven to be a talented force in competition both Nationally & internationally. 


This past August, the Barrington Team Handball Club traveled to Edmonton in Alberta, Canada to compete in the 2017 Canadian Youth Nationals. A young team with many players from Barrington High School, the team brought home the Silver award losing to Alberta's #1 team.

Players Giona Dobrani and Taidhgin Trost both made the Men's First Team and goalie Rene Ingram was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Barrington Team Handball Club develops players from novice to elite, starting in elementary school through high school.

Coach Craig Rot offers three Team Handball programs out of the Barrington Park DIstrict:

  • Fillies for Girls ages: 10-15 Years

  • Mustangs for Boys ages: 10-13 Years

  • Broncos (Boys Elite Team) for Ages: 13-18 Years


Since inception, BTHC has taken teams to Sweden each summer competing in the Partille Cup, the largest youth handball tournament. The Barrington Team Handball Club beat many of Europe's best clubs, earning spots in the elite playoffs.
