Advocate Good Shepherd Hosts a Healthy Start to 4th of July

Bright and early each 4th of July in Barrington, the downtown area comes to life not long after sunrise.

Starting at 6:00 a.m. all ages begin to gather at Park & Cook Streets (not far from McGonigals) in downtown Barrington for registration and the start of the race.

Participants choose to run the 10K course taking them into Barrington Hills and back, run or walk the 5k course that stays in the Village of Barrington and children can take part in a special 1k run.

All finishers in the Advocate Good Shepherd Family Fitness Center 5K Run/Walk, 10K Run and 1K Kids Run receive a custom medal featuring this year’s T-Shirt design by Willa Wu of Barrington High School. Awards will be given to:

  • Top 3 male and female finishers, 5K and 10K races

  • Top 3 male and female finishers in each age-group category:

  • 11 and Under (5k only), 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70+

Volunteers are always needed and appreciated at the annual Family Fitness Run!

Volunteers are asked to work from 5:45 am to 9:00 am the day the race & receive a T-Shirt and refreshments.

Some of the jobs available are:

  • Registration/Finish Line

  • Course Marshall (must be 18 or older)

  • Water Station

  • Split Timer

  • Food Prep/Distribution

  • Course Setup and Transport (must provide own vehicle; must be 18 or older)
