Barrington High School Booster to be Honored at Annual Baseball Banquet

Long-time Barrington High School baseball supporter and Barrington Booster Club Board Member Tracy Covek will be honored at the Barrington High School (BHS) Baseball Booster Club Fundraiser March 9, 2018, at Pinstripes in the South Barrington Arboretum.

Covek will be awarded the 2018 Robert Brandt Memorial Award.

“Tracy has always been and continues to be a passionate and tireless supporter of the baseball program,” said Booster President John Sciaccotta. “She has devoted countless hours of her time and talents to creating a support system for the baseball program that involves family and the community.”

The banquet is the major annual fundraiser for the baseball booster group. All proceeds from the event will go toward field renovations and upgrades, as well as equipment and training needs.

In addition to the recognition program, the night will include an opportunity to meet the coaches and players, an appetizer buffet, raffle, and a silent auction.

Banquet Detail:  Tickets for the evening are $50 per person and should be ordered by March 5 for the event to be held March 9 beginning from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at Pinstripes in South Barrington. About the Robert Brandt Memorial Award: For many years our Illinois 10th District Baseball Chairman Bob Brandt embodied the Spirit of American Legion Baseball Post 158. Bob Brandt born August 20, 1925, in Evanston, Illinois passed away peacefully November 28, 2012, at home. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy following high school, where he served as a Naval Photographer during WW II. After the war, he served for many years in the Naval Reserves.

He enjoyed people and life, with many hobbies and passions, including photography, flying, boating, trains, farming, veteran’s organizations and his American Legion Post. Bob was the Commander and active member of Barrington American Legion Post 158, where he was active with the golf outings, American Legion baseball tournaments and high school scholarships. Bob owned and operated his photography business for 56 years.
