This year’s Barrington 220 Education Foundation’s Alumni Legends event is a celebration of Barrington High School Performing Arts. The event titled, “Standing Ovation” will be held on Thursday, October 5 at 6:30 pm.

This year, the program will feature the following noted Barrington High School alumni: actor, singer and dancer Colleen Zenk, classical pianist Marta Aznavoorian, and actor and singer Robby Kipferl. In addition, actor, director and producer Jeff Galfer and Broadway actor Katrina Lenk will participate in the event remotely.

At Barrington High School, the Performing Arts gives students a path of self-discovery and expression, as well as a chance to explore meaningful connections across the spectrum of learning and knowledge. Through music, dance and drama, students learn to give voice to a broad range of human narratives, touching on experiences far outside the range of their everyday lives.

Please join us as we say “Bravo!” to the Barrington High School Fine Arts department. Visit us at www.220foundation.org to learn more about the event and to purchase tickets. After the program at Barrington High School, we will be hosting a reception at Barrington’s White House beginning at 7:45 pm. Tickets for the reception can also be purchased on our website.

The funds raised from this event will help support the Foundation’s three major initiatives during the 2017-2018 school year. The first is a Healthcare Practice Room located at Barrington High School. This new innovative space and supporting curriculum will open the door to healthcare careers for many future students. The second is continued support of the highly successful Elementary STEM initiative. Lastly, the Foundation will also commit $50,000 to the Sunny Hill Learning Commons project. This future redesign of the traditional library space will not only complement the Elementary STEM program but will reflect the reality of today’s learning styles and needs.

Since its launch over 16 years ago, the Foundation, thanks exclusively to community support, has provided over $2.5M in funding to Barrington 220 for groundbreaking programs that make our school district one of the tops in the country. Over the years, the organization has supported a variety of programs that range from individual classroom initiatives to the introduction of new educational technologies. It has also been an enthusiastic supporter of public speaking events that include nationally recognized authors and experts who bring new insights into learning for both students and their parents. The Barrington 220 Educational Foundation "finds the funds" for initiatives that enhance learning but are not otherwise supported by tax revenues.
