B220 Schools Receive National Recognition for Physical Education Programs

*Seven Barrington 220 elementary schools have received 2017 Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award.*

The award is the nation’s top physical education award for K-12 schools.

Barrington 220 is one of just seven Illinois school districts that has schools which received this year’s award. Arnett C. Lines Elementary of Barrington 220 received the award in 2016, which means all eight Barrington 220 elementary schools have now been recognized.

The following Barrington 220 schools made the 2017 list:

  • Barbara B Rose Elementary School

  • Countryside Elementary School

  • Grove Avenue Elementary School

  • Hough Street Elementary School

  • North Barrington Elementary School

  • Roslyn Road Elementary School

  • Sunny Hill Elementary School

To earn the Let's Move! Active Schools National Award, a school must have met significant benchmarks in five areas:

  • physical education

  • physical activity before and after school

  • physical activity during school

  • staff involvement

  • family and community engagement

Four hundred and fifty-two U.S. schools, representing 37 states plus the District of Columbia, were recognized for their outstanding efforts to create an active school environment.
