September 19th at 6pm Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr. Robert Davis and other important officials arrived at Barrington High School to present a formal invitation to Mr. Karon and the BHS Broncos Marching Band to play in the 2018 London New Year's Day Parade and Festival.

Home to both the elected Government (The House of Parliament) and the head of State of the United Kingdom (Buckingham Palace), Westminster is the most important city in the United Kingdom. The Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster is the first citizen, host and principal patron of the London New Year's Day Parade and Festival.

Lord Mayor Davis will be accompanied on his visit by London Parade and Festival Founders and Directors Robert & Geraldine Bone, as well as Jonathan Whaley, the event's Director of International Participation.

The BHS Broncos Marching Band premiered in the London New Year's Day Parade in 2014 to rave reviews and has been invited back, along with the BHS Color Guard, for an encore performance. This honor is reserved for just a small handful of high school and college marching bands representing the United States.

Young musicians throughout the district (current 8th graders thru high school students and recent alums) will perform together on this world stage as well as in a "Music for London" Gala Concert. They will also have the opportunity to tour historic sites in London, Windsor and Greenwich.

"Our 2014 performance was a tremendous success and we are looking
forward to a triumphant return in 2018," noted Randy Karon, Director
of Barrington High School Bands. An informal reception will
immediately follow the Lord Mayor's presentation and remarks.
