LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Welcome to the Neighborhood!

Barrington Newcomers and Neighbors has existed in one form or another for more than fifty years—longer than many of our members have existed!

I am honored to serve as your new president. I fully intend to carry out my position following the traditions set by an amazing line of past presidents, all of whom led with grace and wisdom. At the same time, BNN is most receptive to progressive and forward-looking ideas.

I attended my first BNN meeting, a morning book club, in 2010. I had recently moved here from Arizona and, not knowing whether I’d be welcome among strangers, drove alone through the snow that frosty cold morning. Though I arrived much too early, the host, Claire Leininger, welcomed me warmly. My trepidation disappeared. Since that day, members of this delightful group have continually shared companionship and kindness.

I remain grateful that I didn’t give into my fears that winter morning and turned around to the safety of my home. The friendships I have made, the talented and supportive people I have met, and the experiences we have shared, would have been lost to me. On behalf of all our members, I invite you to join BNN. We believe the benefits of membership will meet your expectations. As a member you will automatically receive via email our monthly newsletter, the Barrington Buzz, and occasional Blasts, which will provide you with all the information you need to participate in an abundance of activities; to name a few—golf and bowling, book clubs, gardening, game groups, bridge lessons, coffees, and lunch, wine, and dinner groups. And we offer so much more!

The BNN website is hosted by www.LIVING60010.com, a daily resource for school, art, charitable, and other community events in the 60010 area.

I thank outgoing President Norma Bock who together with the members of the Board and the Committee chairs contributed tirelessly to upholding the high standards of Barrington Newcomers and Neighbors, making it the club it is today.
